Privacy Policy
Effective October 9, 2026
SupplyHouse Directory ("we", "us") runs supplyhouse.directory, a directory of building-material suppliers in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey, with free account tools for contractors and supply yards. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Your account: name, email address, password (stored encrypted by our sign-in provider; we never see it), account type (contractor or supplier) and, if you add them, your company or yard name, phone number, trade and home ZIP code.
- What you save: favorite yards, quote requests you log, quotes you upload (PDF files and photos), and the prices in your price catalog.
- What you send us: listing requests, "Is this your yard?" claims and contact-form messages, including the contact details you enter in them.
- Visit statistics: anonymous, aggregate information such as pages viewed, the referring site and device type, through Vercel Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies. Our hosting providers also keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and troubleshooting.
- On your device: your browser stores your sign-in session and a small cache of ZIP code locations so the site works. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To run your account and the features you use: the directory, favorites, quote import, your price catalog and quote requests.
- To review and verify supplier claims and listing requests.
- To reply to your messages and send account emails, such as password resets.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve it.
We don't sell your personal information and we don't use it for advertising.
Your quotes and prices are private
Quotes you upload and your price catalog are visible only to you. We don't share your prices with suppliers or other users. When you import a PDF quote, it is read in your own browser. If AI quote reading is available and you use it (for photos and scanned quotes, or when you choose "Try AI reading"), the file is sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, only to pull out its line items. Anthropic's commercial terms say it doesn't use data sent through its API to train its models.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that help us run the site, under their own privacy and security terms:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage
- Vercel: website hosting and visit statistics
- Anthropic: AI quote reading, only if you use it
- Zippopotam.us and OpenStreetMap: turning a ZIP code you enter into a map location (only the ZIP code is sent)
- Our email provider, to send account emails such as password resets
We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users or the service. When you send a quote request, it opens in your own email app and is sent from your own address, so the suppliers you choose see your email and whatever you write.
Supplier listings
Yard listings are built from publicly available business information such as business name, town, phone number and website. A supplier's email address for quote requests is shown only to signed-in users, and only for suppliers who have verified their listing and asked to receive quote requests. If you run a yard and want your listing corrected or removed, contact us.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account data while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time in Account → Settings. That permanently deletes your profile, favorites, quote history, uploaded quotes and price catalog. Messages, listing requests and claims you've sent us may be kept so we can follow up on them. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis.
Security
Data travels over HTTPS and is stored with access rules so that each account can read only its own private data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else.
Children
The service is meant for businesses. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Your choices
You can view and update your profile in Settings, export your price catalog to a CSV file, and delete your account. To ask about the information we hold about you, contact us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights, and we'll honor requests that apply.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and let account holders know by email or on the site.
